What is Spiritualism?

I get asked a lot about Spiritualism, what it is and how I came to be a minister.  So, I thought I'd take a bit to help you understand and if you have further questions, please just email me at loisgmorin@gmail.com and I will be happy to answer all I can.

 I became aware of Spiritualism through my mediumship development classes. I like the fact that there was no creed or dogma that you had to adhere too.  I really like the freedom to believe as I wish and to have my personal connection to a higher power without being told how it should be.  I also love how it embraces all religions no matter what your belief (I feel it doesn't change your beliefs just enhances them) and welcomes you to their services. What set us apart is our belief of continued life after the transition called death as proved through evidential mediumship.

Spiritualism is philosophy/religion founded on seven basic principles which act as a guideline for the development of personal choices on how to live one's life. Different Spiritualist churches in the United States have slightly different principles. I did my ministry training through and was ordained by the Journey Within Spiritualist Church which is the only U.S. church affiliated with the Spiritual National Union in the United Kingdom. The principles are as follows:

 1. The Fatherhood and Motherhood of God

2. The Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Man

3. The communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels

4. The continuous existence of the Human Soul

5. Personal Responsibility

6.Compensation and Retribution hereafter for all the good and evil deeds done on earth

7. Eternal progress open to every Human Soul

My journey began when I felt that nudge from spirit guides to explore becoming a minister. It was never something I thought I would do but after a year and a half of nudges and lots of soul searching, I chose to apply to the program at the Journey Within Church with the Rev. Janet Nohavec, was accepted and after completing several years of study earned my ordination as a minister in 2023.
